The Town of Kingstree is upgrading to smart meters that will improve both staff efficiency and customer billing experience. Staff will begin replacing the Town’s aging or damaged water meters in the coming months.
Water meters for the Town of Kingstree are located outside the home, so residents will not need to be present during installation. Installers will work Monday – Friday from 7am – 4pm. Please trim overgrown landscaping or remove any debris from near your water meter box to provide easy installer access.
The new smart meters will be read remotely with usage data downloaded daily. After the project is completed, a customer portal, will allow users to monitor their water usage in close to real time. Residents will be able to detect if they have a leaky toilet or a break in a line and get a clear idea of how their usage affects their water bills.Â
The Town of Kingstree Public Works Department will be making the installation change out. Staff onsite will be recognizable by the Town of Kingstree logo on their vehicles and clothing. Switching out the water meter will require staff to be onsite for a short period of time.Â
For local businesses, technicians will schedule a convenient time for the meter replacement to cause minimal disruption.
