


Municipal Court
Charges brought by the Kingstree Police Department are heard in Municipal Court, with the exception of General Session offenses. Fines should be paid by cash, certified check, money order, or credit/debit card at Town Hall. Please note-there is a charge for using a credit/debit card.
Notes From the Clerk of Court
If you have an attorney, he/she must notify the Court that he/she is your representative. All correspondence will be made through your attorney. If you do not have an attorney, correspondence will be made directly to you. You are responsible for keeping your contact information up to date with the Clerk.
If you would like to apply for a Public Defender, you must complete the application form available here. The completed application and the $40 application fee should be turned in to the Municipal Clerk at Town Hall. Applications will not be accepted without the application fee. You will be notified by the Third Judicial Circuit Public Defenders Office in Sumter once a decision is made about your application.
Court is held on Thursdays at 9:00 am at Town Hall, 401 N. Longstreet St, Kingstree, SC. Cases involving Public Defenders are held the second Thursday of each month at the same time and location.
