Director of Recreation

Dept:

The Town of Kingstree is looking to hire a qualified candidate with proven experience to oversee and coordinate recreational programming, planning, and providing activities for all age groups throughout the town. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying the recreational needs of our citizens as well as ensure the maintenance and upkeep of recreation facilities, playgrounds, and parks. They must be able to draft and administer the recreation program budget annually. The person hired will also maintain participation and other records as required to assess the success of program activities in terms of cost and benefits. Grant writing experience is a plus.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Superb organizational skills and attention to detail.
  •  Proven skills operating Microsoft Office Suite or related software as required to draft letters, reports, and budgets.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Physical Education, or a related field is preferred.
  • At least three years of related experience with one year of supervisory experience is required.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk, standing, and walking indoors and outdoors.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
