Notice of Public Hearing Concerning Application
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on Wednesday September 8, 2021 at 6:00 pm the Town of Kingstree will hold a public hearing concerning two applications to be submitted to South Carolina Department of Commerce, Grants Administration on or about September 17, 2021, for a Community Development Block Grant. The public hearing will be held at Kingstree Town Hall located at 401 North Longstreet Street, Kingstree, South Carolina.
The Town of Kingstree is requesting $750,000 to carry out the following activities:
- The proposed downtown streetscape project will include concrete stamped crosswalks, jet outs with flowerbeds, tree relocation from the sidewalks to the new jet outs, new sidewalks, new lamp posts on Main Street from Jackson Street to Hampton Avenue and Academy Street from Main Street to Short Street. This is the first major phase towards revitalizing the downtown as laid out in the town of Kingstree’s master plan.
The Town of Kingstree is requesting $200,000 to carry out the following activities:
- The proposed community park improvements will take place at Gilland Park which is located at the Black River and is less than a mile from the downtown area. Proposed park improvements include ADA accessible restrooms, picnic tables, bike racks and upgrades to the sidewalks.
This public hearing and the matters to be discussed are subject to the provisions of the Town Kingstree Citizen Participation Plan, developed in anticipation of participation in the State of South Carolina’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, providing for the participation of the citizens of the Town of Kingstree in the planning and implementation of community and economic development projects which will involve CDBG funds. The Citizen Participation Plan is available for review at Kingstree Town Hall (401 N. Longstreet, Kingstree, SC 29556) from 9am-5pm.
